Christantus Uche Ignites Comfortable Palace Win at Irish Side Shelbourne.
Despite embarking on their maiden continental adventure, Oliver Glasner's side are learning very quickly. Without key figures like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the London club departed Dublin with a commanding result that virtually guarantees them a spot in the Conference League playoffs.
Another three points in their upcoming fixture against Finnish KuPS should be enough to secure direct entry to the last 16, particularly following a previous stumble against Strasbourg.
Fringe Players Grasp the Moment
This occasion provided a chance for some of Palace's lesser-used talent to impress. Following the break, coach Oliver Glasner took the chance to withdraw several players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse came close to scoring his first touch, only to see his effort blocked.
The youngster was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot strike off both posts before being gathered on the line. Uche also blazed a glaring chance, indicating there is still room for improvement in his game.
The only concern for Palace was a second-half injury to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to make his first-team debut, capping an otherwise perfect night for the traveling side.
