It's difficult for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The top summits have long been mastered.

We're talking about the team that has won seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to an additional six T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, targeted by the record chasers, are what's still available for a team that has won it all.

That it took as late as Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, regaining their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a compliment to the pitchers that have sported the yellow jersey over the last half-century.

It is hard for their batsmen to hold a record if not afforded the chance.

Ultimately, the outcome of Australia conceding 330 was captain Alyssa Healy being given a chance to produce her latest masterpiece.

Then best known as the young family member of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her nation didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has seen it all through 15 championship-filled years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup came three months after her debut and seven international trophies have come from 10 efforts across formats.

The tough gloveman was also there in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India momentarily interrupted the run of success.

That loss "pushed us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy stated recently.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the championship match and was named player of the tournament. She made sure her country would not fail again.

The question of whether this newest brilliant performance surpassed that earlier display remains open for discussion.

Certain people claim the case for championship match pressure. Different voices suggest with the difficulty that comes when facing a record target and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What is certain is this hundred was far harder to anticipate.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 came as she led the batting statistics, but this performance followed six innings in India over the past few weeks in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"For those following me in training, it has been a frustrating experience because it seemed my form was missing whatsoever," said Healy.

A single was taken off the opening delivery and after that the right-hander was in motion.

"The possibility to go out there and lock in a contest with her and simply enjoy myself that way, sort of got me going," stated Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at a World Cup - and her hundred in 84 as she attacked short-pitched balls, scoring 21 fours and three big hits.

By the time she was removed the team needed 66 more at run per delivery - an unconquered height now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Chasing 330 runs is uncharted waters so I am glad we have the confidence to accomplish that now," continued Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it another time but, if we do, we know we can do it."

These statements will be the last competing nations at this tournament need to hear.

Over the past five days a sense they will succeed regardless of circumstances has only strengthened - this victory succeeding victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a match against old rivals England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final berth may well be secure.

It was at that stage they were eliminated from the previous year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - an encounter Healy was absent due to torn tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the inaugural occasion at a major tournament.
